Size fits to the circumference of the head.

Size 50 = 49-52 cm (suitable from approx. 1 to 4 years),
Size 54 = 53-56 cm (suitable from approx. 3 years to 10 years).
Size 56 = 56-59 cm (suitable from approx. 10 years - adults)
